Job summary

CoolSys in Pontiac, MI is seeking an Apprentice (HVAC or Refrigeration) to support installation teams, following customer specs, building codes, and piping practices. You'll work under a senior technician on diverse projects across HVAC and refrigeration systems.

You should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 1+ years in construction/HVAC, with the ability to operate a scissor lift or forklift, and to use basic tools safely. Join a team focused on growth, safety, and hands-on learning.

Qualifications

• Education or experience equivalent to a High school diploma, GED, or completion from trade program or technical school.
• 1+ years of experience in the construction, refrigeration, HVAC, or other related industry/trade preferred.
• Ability to operate a scissor lift or forklift preferred.
• Knowledge of job site safety, and ability to perform work by safe work practices and rules.
• Ability to use basic power and hand tools including drills, fuel gas tools, electrical meters, measurement tools, etc.
• Ability to be punctual and dependable.
• Ability to work in a variety of working conditions, including scaling ladders to various heights, outdoors in hot/cold temperatures, in noisy environments, etc.

Responsibilities

• Install equipment by project requirements and under the direction of a senior technician (HVAC: air handler drains, piping, ductwork; Refrigeration: display case drains, walk-in box drains, piping).
• Perform all assigned work safely using tools and PPE as directed by policy.
• Escalate safety or quality concerns to on-site supervisors promptly.
• Maintain clean and professional job sites; store and dispose of waste materials properly.
• Assist senior technicians on a job and follow instructions.
