Job summary

Southern States Cooperative is seeking a field technician to install, maintain, and repair propane and oil burning systems, HVAC units, and related equipment for SSC customers. You will read blueprints, diagnose issues, and ensure safety and code compliance.

The role requires 2+ years of installation experience, relevant licenses, and the ability to work independently, sometimes traveling to customer sites. Strong communication and accurate documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires two or more years of experience with installation and repair of propane or oil-based heating systems.
• Licensing requirements vary by location; HVAC license and propane certification preferred.
• CDL and HazMat endorsements may be required depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Maintain communication with facility leadership on daily service dispatching for new installation, repair and maintenance of appliances, systems and related equipment.
• Safely install and repair propane, oil burning, diesel and/or gasoline systems, equipment, and appliances according to federal and state codes.
• Read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints, manuals, engineering specifications, diagrams, meters, gauges, and control panels.
• Represent SSC in a positive manner by providing reliable and prompt service to customers and reviewing account details and invoices.
• Discuss new equipment sales with current and prospective customers and conduct site surveys.
• Operate SSC commercial motor vehicles in compliance with regulations and policy; perform routine maintenance and repair to keep vehicles in good condition.
• Prepare and maintain invoices, reports, logs, and related documents accurately and timely.
• Maintain parts/manufacturers manuals and service records.
