Job summary

AM Mechanical is seeking a Project Manager with 3–5 years of HVAC estimating and project management experience to join our Downers Grove team. You will lead design/build efforts, coordinate with clients and internal teams, and drive cost control and scheduling.

The role requires collaboration with engineers and field staff to deliver turnkey mechanical projects nationwide, with opportunities for bonus compensation and career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 2-7+ years of HVAC project management experience; lead design/build projects preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Willingness to travel to client sites nationwide as needed.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all managerial and administrative aspects of turn-key mechanical/project management, including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, progress billing, design review and coordination, cost reporting, safety, and proposal preparation.
• Gather project requirements directly from clients and facilitate preparation of working drawings.
• Work independently and with management to prepare/submit project proposals.
• Attend client meetings to present proposals and address cost, design, and scope questions.
• Ensure accurate project estimates align with contracted scope.
• Manage RFIs, change-orders, and submittals throughout the lifecycle of projects.
• Oversee internal project accounting and track cost status.
• Plan, coordinate, and supervise field operations and teams.
• Address project close-out and warranty issues as they arise.
