Job summary

Trane Technologies in the United States is seeking an HVAC Project Engineer to translate early project concepts into defined HVAC system solutions and pre-construction documents. You will collaborate with project developers, estimators, engineers, and operations leaders to ensure well-scoped, budgeted, scheduled, and file-ready projects.

The role requires basic engineering knowledge, ability to review drawings, assist estimators, and support site walks.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of basic engineering, electricity, and mechanical HVAC systems.
• Ability to communicate with subcontractors to obtain critical proposal information.
• Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

• Translate project concepts into defined HVAC system solutions and pre-construction planning.
• Partner with the project team to define scope, budgets, and schedules; prepare basic schematics and bid packages for subcontractors.
• Gather and evaluate project data, drawings, and site conditions to develop scopes and cost estimates.
• Analyze field conditions to identify risks, constructability issues, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Lead or support pre-bid meetings to review scope and requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractor outreach, pricing, and qualification efforts; support cost optimization.
• Communicate with subcontractors to guide them in providing complete proposal information.
• Support decisions on outsourced engineering needs and turnover to project management.
• Participate in client meetings and strategy discussions; assist with project turnover documentation.
