Job summary

ModernControls, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Project Manager – Mechanical to support the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and building automation projects.

The role involves coordination with field staff, vendors, and customers to keep projects on schedule and within budget. You will assist with procurement, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and document administration while upholding safety and quality standards across multiple site locations.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in construction, HVAC, mechanical contracting, project coordination, or a related field preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction project management, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with daily project coordination, scheduling, and execution.
• Track project budgets, labor hours, material costs, and overall progress.
• Coordinate with field supervisors, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
• Assist with purchase orders, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
• Monitor project milestones and communicate potential delays or concerns.
• Support material procurement and equipment delivery coordination.
• Participate in project meetings and site visits.
• Ensure project activities follow company safety policies and quality standards.
• Assist with project closeout documentation and customer turnover.
