Job summary

D.C. Goodman & Sons, a full-service commercial mechanical contractor in Huntingdon, PA, seeks a Service Manager to build and lead a new service division. You will start by hands-on service work, gradually moving into department leadership and client management.

You will design the PM program, establish processes, and manage finances, staffing, and service contracts, while ensuring safety and high-quality service for commercial clients.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years hands-on commercial HVAC and/or plumbing experience with lead/supervisory roles
• Strong knowledge of commercial mechanical systems, blueprints, and specs
• OSHA 30 and EPA 608 Certification required (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
• Valid driver’s license required
• Experience building a service line, PM program, or department from scratch is a plus
• Experience with scheduling software, job costing, and service contract management a plus
• Backflow prevention certification, NATE Certification, and multi-trade coordination experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Department Build-Out: consolidate service responsibilities into a unified department with consistent processes, scheduling, and staffing
• Develop a PM program from the ground up—schedules, service agreements, documentation, and pricing
• Partner with estimators to identify new PM and service contract opportunities
• Operations & Technical Leadership: manage day-to-day scheduling, dispatch, and prioritization of PM visits, service calls, and emergency response
• Personally perform service, diagnostics, and repairs in early stages; review technician diagnostics on complex equipment
• Establish on-call rotation for after-hours coverage and coordinate with other department leads on multi-trade jobs
• Team & Client Management: hire, supervise, mentor, and develop technicians; serve as primary client contact
• Build and maintain service agreements and identify opportunities to expand scope with existing clients
• Financial Oversight: own department financials—labor allocation, job costing, invoicing, profitability; track key service metrics
