Job summary

D.C. Goodman & Sons, a century-old mechanical contractor based in Huntingdon, PA, seeks a Lead Service Technician for commercial HVAC and plumbing systems.

You will lead field technicians, read blueprints, diagnose issues, and coordinate with office staff and customers to keep projects on track. You are a skilled tradesperson with 5–10 years of experience, an apprenticeship or trade school background, EPA 608 certification, OSHA 10/30, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• HVAC and/or plumbing experience with leadership responsibilities.
• EPA 608 Certification required; Universal preferred.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support HVAC/Plumbing Technicians with training and guidance.
• Serve as communication link between technicians and department heads.
• Field customer service calls and coordinate with facility managers.
• Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Read and interpret commercial blueprints and specifications.
• Diagnose issues and perform preventive maintenance.
• Coordinate with electrical, sheet metal, and fire protection crews.

Overall Purpose

The Lead Service Technician keeps our clients up and running while raising the skill level of the whole service team, combining expert hands-on work with training, mentorship, and clear communication between technicians, department heads, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support HVAC/Plumbing Technicians with on-the-job training and technical guidance
• Serve as the communication link between technicians and department heads
• Field customer service calls and communicate with facility managers at client sites
• Install, maintain, and repair commercial HVAC and plumbing systems, including rooftop units, boilers, chillers, VAV systems, and backflow prevention
• Read and work from commercial mechanical blueprints and specifications
• Diagnose system issues and perform preventive maintenance
• Coordinate on site with electrical, sheet metal, and fire protection crews
• Document work performed and pull permits as required

Skills & Experience

Required:

• 5-10 years of commercial HVAC and/or plumbing experience, including training or leading other technicians
• Formal HVAC or plumbing apprenticeship, or trade school plus field experience
• EPA Section 608 Certification (Universal preferred)
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
• Strong communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites

Preferred:

• Journeyman or master-level trade card
• Backflow prevention certification
• Applicable local/municipal HVAC and plumbing licensure
• Experience working alongside multiple trades on active job sites
