Job summary

Nueces County seeks a skilled MEP Facilities Maintenance Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems across county facilities. The role may lead a small team and requires on-call duty during emergencies as directed by the Director.

You will maintain Metasys BACnet building automation, install components, and perform preventive maintenance. A two-year degree plus experience or an equivalent training path is required.

Qualifications

• AA degree plus 3 years building maintenance experience; or HS/GED plus 5 years HVAC experience.
• Familiar with instruments such as Ohm meters, amp meters, drills and saws.
• Must pass criminal background check and have a valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of preventive maintenance and repair on equipment, building components and MEP systems.
• Locates problems and repairs chilled water and direct expansion HVAC systems.
• Installs electrical motors, fans, AHU components, dampers, belts, wires and panels.
• Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical systems such as pumps, motors and sensors.
• Performs plumbing repairs including copper, galvanized and PVC piping.
• May act as lead worker on team projects and oversee others’ work.
• Maintains building automation via Metasys BACnet and monitors security and HVAC controls.
• Performs other duties in the MEP technical areas.
