Job summary

Nueces County is seeking a maintenance worker to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on county buildings and facilities under close supervision. The role requires skilled electrical and/or mechanical maintenance, with duties ranging from replacing ballasts and light fixtures to plumbing repairs and HVAC upkeep.

The incumbent must be able to read safety rules and operate a variety of power tools, and must hold or be eligible for a Texas driver's license.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to perform essential maintenance duties.
• Must have ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on county buildings.
• Experience with electrical and plumbing work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventive maintenance routines on equipment.
• Repairs jail security doors and light fixtures; replaces ballasts.
• Cleans and replaces air-conditioner filters; repairs HVAC systems.
• Repairs plumbing such as valves, faucets, and sprinkler systems.
• May repair water or sewer lines and install conduit and wiring.
• May perform welding as needed.
