Job summary

Modigent is seeking a Preconstruction Estimator II to prepare cost estimates for commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems. You will perform quantity takeoffs, analyze contract documents, and coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors while supporting bid packages.

This mid-level role offers growing independence and opportunities to mentor junior estimators. Ideal candidates have 4–7+ years in construction estimating, a related bachelor’s degree (preferred), and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM/Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 4–7+ years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience.
• Experience with commercial mechanical/HVAC/plumbing projects is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and conceptual cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical projects.
• Read and analyze plans, specs, addenda, scopes of work, and general conditions.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications for materials, labor, and subs.
• Organize estimate data and pricing; solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist in bid proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, and bid packages.
• Identify risks, VE opportunities, constructability issues, and cost-saving ideas.
• Maintain organized project records and estimate files for audits and handoffs.
• Support senior estimators with special projects and bid strategy input.
