Job summary

Modigent is seeking an entry-to-junior Preconstruction Estimator I to assist senior estimators in developing conceptual and detailed cost estimates for commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems. You’ll gain hands-on exposure to bid preparation, quantity takeoffs, and early project scoping in a collaborative, safety-conscious environment.

You will work with internal teams and external partners, gathering pricing data, and contributing to winning proposals while learning Modigent

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in CM, ME, or AE; equivalent experience considered.
• 1–3+ years in estimating or preconstruction.
• Office-based with occasional site visits; ability to travel regionally.
• Familiarity with HVAC/mechanical systems and cost estimation process.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conceptual, ROM, and detailed cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, piping, ductwork, and mechanical systems.
• Review drawings, specs, and addenda; perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Gather supplier pricing and data to support budgeting and proposals.
• Support bid package assembly and responses for submittals.
• Maintain organized project files and estimate records.
