Performance Services, Inc. in Texas is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design for Retrofit and Energy Savings & Design-Build projects.

The role centers on HVAC system design, equipment sizing, and construction doc development, supporting energy and water projects for K-12 and municipal facilities. The incumbent will collaborate with engineers to develop concepts, finalize designs after contract awards, and provide technical support during project execution.

Qualifications

• HVAC design experience desirable.
• Ability to interpret and develop system concepts.
• Knowledge of energy-savings methods in buildings.

Responsibilities

• Inventory existing equipment and evaluate condition of building systems.
• Survey site conditions for equipment locations, duct routing, and piping.
• Identify problem areas affecting design of new systems.
• Select, size, schedule, and layout HVAC equipment (chillers, boilers, AHU, etc.).
• Update construction documents and develop final as-built.
• Collaborate with Project Development Engineer on design concepts and scope docs.
• Finalize HVAC design after contract award.
• Prepare drawings and specs; layout ductwork and piping.
• Review drawings and learn related building systems.
• Provide technical assistance to operations, and to performance assurance/energy accounting groups.
• Perform building load calculations and energy/operational savings calculations.
• Prepare preliminary cost estimates.
