Job summary

Halifax Health is seeking a Day shift AC Mechanic to install and maintain mechanical systems in a hospital environment. You will coordinate with facilities and engineering teams, perform testing, and manage work orders to ensure compliance and efficient operations.

Responsibilities include monitoring vendors, conducting preventive maintenance, and documenting activities in CMMS while upholding safety standards to support patient care areas and critical spaces.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or apprenticeship in mechanical/HVAC preferred.
• EPA Section 608 Type I certification or ability to obtain within introductory period.
• OSHA 10 or higher safety training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update the CMMS with new assets after projects (e.g., VAVs, AHUs, RTUs, dampers, motors, pumps, chillers).
• Monitor and maintain systems (chilled water, hot water, boilers, building controls) and assist with outages.
• Coordinate with facilities leadership, infection prevention, vendors and engineers on outages, renovations and corrective actions.
• Test and document mechanical systems performance; assist with procurement and minor repairs as needed.
