Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking an HVAC Mechanic to inspect, repair, and maintain critical hospital HVAC systems. You will manage parts, supplies, and equipment while adhering to OSHA and internal guidelines.

A high school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of HVAC training is preferred, with DDC proficiency and a journeyman’s license strongly favored to be attained within the first year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; 1 year HVAC/voc training preferred.
• Proficiency with direct digital controls (DDC) required or strongly preferred.
• Journeyman's license for Heating Vent and AC must be attained by end of year one.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing (VA/NC preferred).
• Minimum 3 years HVAC experience; hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain HVAC systems within hospital settings.
• Manage parts, supply inventory, and ensure regulatory compliance (OSHA).
• Adhere to departmental guidelines and on-call/rotating shift requirements.
• Follow safety and quality standards in all maintenance activities.

City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift Rotating Overview: HVAC Mechanic Sentara Norfolk General Hospital

The HVAC Mechanic is experienced in all phases of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating. This individual inspects, repairs and maintains HVAC systems in addition to maintaining parts, supplies and equipment. Responsible for following the operational and departmental guidelines, and for meeting all regulatory and compliance requirements, e.g. OSHA. In addition to High School Graduate or equivalent, 1 year post-secondary/vocational training in air conditioning, refrigeration, math, physics, chemistry, and basic mechanics is preferred. Candidate must be proficient with direct digital controls (DDC). Universal certification preferred. Journeyman's license for Heating Vent and AC strongly preferred at time of hire, must be attained by the end of the first year of employment. Mission Essential Personnel. Rotating Shifts and availability to work on-call as required.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $32.58 - $48.79 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
