Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a General Maintenance Mechanic for its A/C Shop. You will perform general maintenance on building systems, including floors, lighting, HVAC, and plumbing, and support other facility shops as required.

Must live within 30 minutes of the SNGH campus, work a rotating shift and weekends, with on-call as needed. Virginia or North Carolina driver’s license required; refrigerant recovery certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of maintenance experience, commercial preferred.
• Valid VA or NC Driver's License in good standing.
• Refrigerant recovery certification Type I/II preferred or universal required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; trade certification/licensure encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance on building structure and systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing.
• Assist with other Facility Shops as needed and provide back-up coverage.

Job Overview

Overview: General Maintenance Mechanic A/C Shop Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Performs general maintenance as directed and as necessary on all aspects of building structure and systems to include floors, walls, ceilings, lighting HVAC, transportation systems, mechanical electrical, plumbing and other items.

This position is Mission Essential personnel at SNGH. Must live within 30 minutes of SNGH campus. Must be able to work rotating shift, rotating weekends and be on-call as required. This position is assigned to the A/C SHOP Support other Facility Shops as required

Requirements

• Must have a VA or NC Drivers License Refrigerant Recovery certification Type I and Type II preferred or Universal required
• Education High School Diploma or equivalent Trade School Certification/Licensure
• Valid VA or NC Drivers License (In good standing)
• Experience 2-3 years of Maintenance experience Commercial preferred
• Ability to assist with other Facility Shops (Electric/HVAC, Plumbing, etc.)

Salary and Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $25.90 - $40.31 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs.
