Summary

We provide logistical support at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in North Charleston (FLETC Federal Complex off Spruill Avenue). We are seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanic.

Minimum Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs.
• Valid ASHRAE Refrigerant Certification.
• US or Naturalized Citizen.
• Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and physical exam.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment such as refrigeration units, air conditioning systems, electric motors, heating units, pumps, hermetic compressors, and fans.
• Understand refrigeration cycles, diagnose issues using gauges and measurement devices, and perform recovery, evacuation, and charging procedures.
• Install, repair, and troubleshoot systems including mini-split systems, refrigeration controls, compressors, heat pumps, split systems, package units, and electric motors and controls.
• Use multi-meters and megger testers to troubleshoot electrical circuits.
• Perform soldering and brazing proficiently.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial chillers and related equipment, including cooling towers and air handlers.
• Operate, install, and maintain HVAC equipment, estimate time and materials, and maintain confidentiality of work-related information.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
