Brethren Village Retirement Community, in Lititz, PA, is seeking a reliable HVAC / Maintenance Technician with commercial HVAC and plumbing experience, for full-time employment .

Brethren Village offers our Maintenance staff primarily daytime work hours, Monday through Friday, plus full benefits coverage.

The HVAC / Maintenance Technician will work with our talented Maintenance team to help keep Brethren Village's commercial and residential systems, equipment, and appliances operating effectively, efficiently, and safely. The Maintenance Technician will repair and maintain facilities, equipment, and appliances in Residents' apartments; in our healthcare facilities; in our commercial kitchens; in mechanical rooms and the central utility plant.

The HVAC / Maintenance Technician will consistently interact with our older adult Residents, co-workers, and managers in a polite, friendly, and helpful manner.

At least 3 years of related work experience in a professional setting, including commercial HVAC and plumbing experience, is required.

A valid PA driver's license is required, as well as a driving record free from excessive or serious violation, and verification of personal auto insurance.

Maintenance Techs. must be able to stand and walk frequently during an 8-hour shift; bend and kneel while working; climb ladders; work safely with tools and equipment; work outdoors in all weather conditions; assist with snow and ice removal; lift and push carts and similar items. Work Schedule
  • Full-time, benefits-eligible: typically 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, day shift
  • occasional evening and weekend work may be required (Brethren Village provides an extra $1.50 per hour for evening work, and $1.00 per hour for Saturday and Sunday work hours)
  • Maintenance Techs. periodically serve on-call and must be available to take calls during off-hours, or return to the Brethren Village campus to deal with urgent issues
Requirements
  • a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use software, apps, and databases independently
  • the ability to complete online training independently
  • dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
  • attention to safety: ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position and adhering to all health and safety standards
  • commitment to treating each Resident, Team Member, and member of the Brethren Village community with respect
Additional Requirements for this Position
  • formal training in HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or another mechanical or electrical field
  • at least 3 years of professional work experience as a Maintenance or HVAC Technician, including commercial HVAC and plumbing experience
  • a valid PA driver's license (must have had a valid driver's license for at least the prior 2 years), proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record free from excessive or serious violations including DUI
  • ability to independently complete repairs and perform preventative maintenance with respect to commercial equipment and systems
  • ability and willingness tosafely complete all work assignments; a good understanding of applicable OSHA and EPA standards
  • thorough knowledge of materials, tools, and techniques necessary to complete a variety of jobs; the ability to use a variety of hand tools and power tools properly and safely
  • ability to climb ladders; carry and lift objects; reach overhead; stoop and bend; push and pull carts and objects; shovel snow and safely operate a plow; and stand and walk frequently during the 8-hour shift
  • ability to write clearly in order to complete documentation and regulatory records and reports
  • ability to accurately enter and retrieve data from computer systems, websites, and apps
  • flexibility with respect to work schedule, including ability to serve on-call, report to work on weekends if needed, and report during inclement weather
