Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Journeyman Mechanic for our federal team at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, responsible for maintenance and service of HVAC systems across the base.

The role requires 5+ years of experience, a mechanical journeyman license, and the ability to obtain DoD clearance; benefits include a company vehicle, cell phone, and tools. This is a bargaining unit (union) position with a journeyman rate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting and service experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to obtain and maintain required government clearance and any other worksite-specific badges. DoD Secret or Top-Secret clearance preferred.
• Mechanical Journeyman License.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned maintenance and service duties; inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and preventive maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve primarily HVAC mechanical problems, as well as some electrical and control problems.
• Responds to service & warranty calls.
• Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair mechanical systems using a variety of tools and instruments.
• Perform specified preventative maintenance including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment.
• Recover, Reclaim, and Recharge refrigerant.
• Perform testing, collecting, and delivery of samples for analysis.
