Job summary

Johnson Controls Federal Systems at Aberdeen Proving Grounds is seeking an HVAC Journeyman Mechanic. You will maintain and service commercial and industrial HVAC equipment across the base, with duties including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and responding to service calls.

The role is unionized, with union benefits through local 486. This position requires a Mechanical Journeyman License, 5+ years of HVAC experience, and the ability to obtain DoD clearance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting and service experience.
• Valid driver's license
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to obtain and maintain required government clearance and any other worksite‑specific badges.
• Active Department of Defense Secret or Top-Secret clearance preferred.
• Mechanical Journeyman License

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned maintenance and service duties; inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, repairing, and preventive maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve primarily HVAC mechanical problems, as well as some electrical and control problems.
• Responds to service & warranty calls.
• Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair mechanical systems using a variety of tools and instruments.
• Perform specified preventative maintenance including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, and cleaning of equipment.
• Recover, Reclaim, and Recharge refrigerant.
• Perform testing, collecting, and delivery of samples for analysis.

We are seeking anHVAC Journeyman Mechanicto join our federal team based at theAberdeen Proving Grounds(military experience not required). Our team here is responsible for the maintenance and service of the HVAC equipment for multiple buildings across the base.

As a Journeyman Mechanic, you will:

(This will involve a background/character, work experience, education, financial/credit, and a criminal history records check). Active Department of Defense Secret or Top-Secret clearance preferred.
• Mechanical Journeyman License

Preferred Qualifications

• Chiller maintenance experience
• Welding/pipe fitting
• Knowledge of boilers - steam/hot water operational and service
• Knowledge of BAS (Metasys, Tridium).
• Current member of local union 486 or 602
