Position: HVAC General Maintenance Worker

On Camp Pendleton, you will perform general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repairs of various types of commercial HVAC equipment to ensure smooth operation. You may also assist workers and journeymen by performing general duties of lesser skill, such as supplying materials and tools, holding materials and tools, and cleaning work areas, machines, or equipment. The ideal candidate performs any task as instructed while following all health and safety standards.

Salary: $22.64/hr plus $4.57 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401(k)!

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions
• Inspect drives, motors, pulleys, belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions following checklists
• Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, then repair or replace parts and reassemble equipment
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
• Record maintenance or repair work and costs
• Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogs and suppliers or obtain from storerooms
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Essential Skills:

• Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in HVAC in a commercial/industrial setting
• Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
• Use hand tools, measuring instruments, and electrical/electronic testing devices such as meters
• Use rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments
• Be adaptable and flexible in work situations
• Prioritize tasks to ensure timely completion
• Practice workplace safety, including proper use of PPE

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 2+ years related experience and/or formal vocational/technical training in building and utility trades
• Valid driver's license
• Pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Dependable attendance
• U.S. citizenship required for access to military installations

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
• Use of hands, reaching, talking, walking
• Prolonged sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping
• Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces
• Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot, or cold supplies and equipment
• Work indoors and outdoors in various temperatures and weather conditions
