Summary

A General Service Technician exemplifies professional integrity, strong teamwork skills, basic knowledge of the automotive industry, basic automotive diagnostic and repair skills, utilization of the latest technology, tools, and equipment, a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for delivering quality work, exceptional customer service, and exceeding business goals while supporting daily operations.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities
  1. Perform routine maintenance services, such as oil changes, tire rotations, fluid flushes, filter replacements, etc., to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity.
  2. Assist with and conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, maintenance, or safety concerns.
  3. Complete repairs and maintenance tasks efficiently and accurately.
  4. Utilize diagnostic equipment, technical manuals, and computerized systems to diagnose and troubleshoot automotive problems.
  5. Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and industry safety and quality standards.
  6. Perform quality control checks and test-drive vehicles to verify repairs and identify remaining issues.
  7. Immediately report accidents or service issues requiring additional work or safety concerns to the Store or Service Manager.
  8. Conduct test drives in accordance with company policies, safety practices, and traffic laws.
  9. Maintain accurate inspection records and communicate service needs and recommendations effectively to sales and management staff.
  10. Communicate professionally with customers to explain repair recommendations, provide estimates, and address questions or concerns.
  11. Provide excellent customer service, ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt, accurate, and quality automotive services.
  12. Collaborate with senior technicians, management, and team members to coordinate workflow and ensure efficient service.
  13. Follow and promote workplace safety policies and best practices to minimize safety risks and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  14. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment per company policies and OSHA regulations.
  15. Stay informed on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting automotive repair and safety.
  16. Support the Store Manager in fostering a positive, inclusive, and cohesive team environment to develop employees, exceed goals, and deliver exceptional customer service.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Credentials, and Experience
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least one year of related experience preferred.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. and a clean driving record.

Position Details

This is a full-time, onsite role requiring at least 32 hours weekly, with varying hours including weekends. Travel up to 25% may be required, mainly between local stores.
