Job summary

Encon Heating & AC is seeking a Service Manager for the Commercial Service Team based out of Stratford, CT. You will lead a technician group of 7–15, owning productivity, safety, and revenue while maintaining team morale and conducting performance reviews.

Responsibilities include field leadership, hiring and development, quoting in the field, and ensuring high-quality service with strict adherence to safety standards. This role emphasizes frontline coaching and strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Commercial HVAC service background with diagnostic depth.
• Experience hiring, developing, and managing performance.
• Ability to manage pricing, margin, and labor costs.
• Organized with daily labor planning and weekly field cadence.
• Customer-facing with ability to own and recover service relationships.

Responsibilities

• Own the team's numbers: margin, revenue, and plan tracking.
• Manage labor to match call type and capacity.
• Lead from the field, coaching top technicians.
• Hire, train, develop, and discipline the team; grow bench.
• Teach quoting in the field and close work on-site.
• Enforce first-visit completion, safety, and proper invoicing flow.
• Manage after-hours and on-call rotation.
• Own work quoted by the team including below-margin approvals.
• Review invoices before they reach customers.
