Job summary

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management and building systems, is seeking an HVAC apprentice in Metairie, LA. The role involves installing and commissioning pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment under the direction of the Employer.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, familiarity with HVAC, a valid driver's license, and be willing to train under the Local. This is a Bargaining Unit Position with union-provided benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Familiarity with HVAC equipment.
• EPA Refrigeration certification a plus.
• The ability to perform general building maintenance.
• The ability to work in an industrial environment.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently.
• This position requires a current driver's license.
• Willingness to supplement on-the-job training with training provided by Local.
• 2 year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• This is a Bargaining Unit Position.

Responsibilities

• Install more complex system field devices and commissioning using standard configuration and commissioning tools.
• Troubleshoots and resolves problems.
• Responds to basic warranty calls.
• Keeps JCI, contractors, and the customer informed of job progress and issues as needed.
• Apprentices shall perform all pneumatic control systems and mechanical equipment service and all other work assigned by the Employer.
