Job summary

University at Buffalo invites applications for the Facility Operations Assistant 1 position in the HVAC department. You will assist in routine maintenance and perform tasks on mechanical and electrical equipment across campus.

The role requires physical ability, a NYS driver's license if operating vehicles, and willingness to respond to after-hours issues. This is a full-time position in Buffalo, NY with a Monday–Friday workweek.

Qualifications

• Must be physically able to perform the tasks and follow written or oral instructions.
• If operating motor vehicles, must have a valid NYS driver’s license.
• Electrical and mechanical aptitude with basic HVAC understanding.
• Willing to respond to after-hours calls related to equipment failures.
• Knowledge of BAS and safe use of hand/power tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in routine maintenance of equipment.
• Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems.
• Carry out proactive maintenance: lubricating, belts, filters, and cleaning.
• Learn operating procedures for campus HVAC equipment.
• Participate in in-service training and on-the-job instruction.
• Clean parts and areas related to HVAC equipment.
