Job summary

FirstCall Mechanical is seeking an Estimator in South Amboy, NJ to support our HVAC cost estimating team. You’ll learn HVAC system costing and scope development under senior estimators and project managers to build accurate estimates for various commercial/industrial projects.

The role requires 2+ years in HVAC or estimating, strong Excel skills, and experience with estimating software such as Accubid. A valid driver’s license and the ability to work on-site are essential.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or trade school preferred.
2+ years in HVAC, estimating, or construction support.
Understanding blueprint reading and electrical drawings.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook; experience with estimating software.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Assist in quantity take-offs and basic labor/material cost calculations for HVAC systems.
Review project plans and specifications under supervision.
Support bid processes with subcontractor and vendor quotes.
Organize estimate documentation for submission.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits with estimators or PMs.
Maintain bid files and follow up on vendor information.
Enter estimate data into bid software and spreadsheets.
Learn estimating lifecycle from bid to hand-off.
