Job summary

Orion Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to help drive growth across Southeast Michigan. This hands-on role involves working with leadership, customers, engineers, and project teams to develop competitive estimates and secure profitable projects.

The estimator will engage in pre-construction planning, value engineering, and cost analysis to support successful execution. You will actively participate in scope reviews, budgeting discussions, and client relationships,

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical estimating, project management, or mechanical construction operations.
• Experience reading drawings and specifications.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to influence business growth.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop competitive proposals.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost analyses for HVAC, piping, sheet metal, refrigeration, and related systems.
• Develop value-engineering alternatives and project execution strategies.
• Build relationships with customers, general contractors, engineers, and vendors.
• Conduct site visits and pre-bid walkthroughs.
• Participate in scope reviews, budgeting discussions, and project planning meetings.
• Support project teams with change order pricing and cost analysis throughout project execution.
• Help ensure projects are positioned for successful execution and profitability.

This is not a back-office estimating position. The Estimator will be actively involved with customers, project planning, and business growth initiatives while maintaining significant visibility within the organization.
