Job summary

Hooper-Corporation, a Wisconsin-based electric power and mechanical contractor, seeks an HVAC Designer to layout and design systems for design-build projects in accordance with codes. This role emphasizes 2D/3D drawings, coordination with plumbing and electrical trades, and producing detailed construction documents.

Office-based with occasional field or meeting travel, the position requires proficiency with AutoCAD, REVIT, and related software, plus the ability to work in a collaborative team

Qualifications

• Experience: Prefer 2 years developing 2D and 3D drawings.
• Education: 2-year associates degree in drafting or 4 years’ equivalent mechanical trades experience.
• Technical Skills: Analytical, knowledge of construction software programs.
• Behavioral Skills: Comfortable working in a team with multiple ongoing projects.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Design comprehensive HVAC systems (ductwork, piping, controls) per codes and guidelines.
• Prepare detailed construction documents, schedules, details, ductwork and piping specs.
• Perform HVAC calculations using CAD/BIM tools and size ductwork and piping.
• Coordinate design layouts with HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades for proper integration.
• Secure approvals from architects, engineers, owners, local authorities, and insurers; keep project records.
• Communicate with stakeholders to resolve design issues, manage change orders, and assist with RFIs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
