Job summary

McCrea Equipment Company, Inc. (MEC) is seeking an Engineering Assistant in Warrenton, VA to support the engineering and design team with residential HVAC design tasks. You will assist with Manual J calculations, create drawings, and help organize permit documentation.

Training will be provided, with opportunities for long-term growth within the engineering function. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with technical information.
• Experience with RightSoft or similar HVAC design software is a plus.
• Willingness to learn residential HVAC design principles and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Manual J residential heat load calculations and related HVAC design calculations.
• Create and update residential house drawings using design software and input building/ equipment parameters.
• Assist with determining equipment sizing and duct system designs.
• Prepare permit documentation and other materials for residential projects.
• Review plans and calculations for accuracy and completeness.
• Learn and use RightSoft and other HVAC software to support design activities.
• Communicate project information and requirements with team.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
• Perform other engineering, design, and admin duties as assigned.
