Job summary

McCrea Equipment Company, Inc. in Warrenton, VA is seeking an Engineering Assistant to provide technical and administrative support to the engineering and design team, focusing on residential HVAC design and Manual J calculations.

You will work with RightSoft and other software, develop proficiency through training, and have potential for long-term growth within the engineering and design function.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with technical information, measurements, plans and specifications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with internal teams.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Manual J residential heat load calculations and related HVAC design calculations. Training will be provided.
• Create and update residential house drawings using design software and enter building, construction, and equipment parameters.
• Assist with determining equipment sizing and developing duct system designs.
• Assist with preparing permit documentation and other supporting materials for residential projects.
• Review residential plans, project information, calculations, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Gather, organize, and maintain project information, files, calculations, and related documentation.
• Learn and use Rightsoft and other applicable software to support residential HVAC calculations and design activities.
• Communicate with internal team members regarding project information, design requirements, documentation, and project needs.
• Participate in training and develop knowledge of residential HVAC design principles, construction practices, software, and standards.
• Perform other engineering, design, and administrative duties as assigned.
