Job summary

University of Central Florida - College of Medicine seeks a Controls Specialist II to support HVAC building automation, perform retro-commissioning, and analyze HVAC performance for safe, efficient and comfortable learning environments. The role requires intermediate HVAC/controls expertise and on-site work at UCF facilities.

The successful candidate will install, calibrate BAS controllers, update graphics and programming, and work with the commissioning team to deliver energy efficiency

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of HVAC controls theory & concepts; sequence of operations review, design, implementation, operation & testing.
• Proficient in Building Management Systems software such as Siemens Desigo, Trane, Tracer Ensemble, Tracer Summit, Enteliweb and WebCTRL.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, air compressors, fans, and pumps.
• Experience in repair and maintenance of digital building control systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Visio preferred.
• Skilled in use and safety of hand tools, power tools, electrical meters, balometer, and machines.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to read and understand printed process, circuit, and electrical schematics.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic and pneumatic controls.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC building automation systems and related equipment to ensure continuous operation.
• Install, repair, replace and recalibrate BAS controllers, terminal devices and ancillary components.
• Update system graphics, back-end programming, configurations, databases and networks.
• Collaborate with commissioning team to improve BAS operation and energy efficiency.
• Carry out minor repairs on pneumatic systems, DDC controls, boilers, chillers, fans, pumps and related components.
• Serve as first response for indoor environmental work requests.
