Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks an HVAC Controls Systems Designer to support design, programming, commissioning, and documentation of HVAC control systems. You will work under supervision to ensure customer requirements are met and communicated clearly to teams and subcontractors.

You will select hardware, program software, coordinate drawings, order materials, and assist commissioning of controllers. The role emphasizes safety, timely submissions, and clear turnover documentation across trades.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years installing and/or commissioning controls systems.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude and advanced computer skills.
• 5+ years HVAC field experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Select hardware designs from standard design library for diagrams and BOMs.
• Perform software programming using established standards.
• Coordinate drawings and equipment schedules for submittals.
• Select, order, and track materials and coordinate factory-mounting.
• Assist with loading and commissioning system and network controllers.
• Gather field changes and create as-built drawings and manuals.
• Keep management and customer informed on progress and next steps.
• Support site-specific training for owner/operators on the total system.
• Complete time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation accurately.
