Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking an HVAC Controls Systems Designer to design and program control systems under supervision, translating project requirements into hardware, software, and installation documentation.

You will assist with commissioning, troubleshooting, and warranty response while coordinating drawings, schedules, and manuals. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with installing and/or commissioning controls systems, including system-level controllers.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude and advanced computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC control system hardware and software per project requirements.
• Select hardware from design library for diagrams, BOMs, and schematics.
• Prepare detailed submittals and installation documentation for customers and field teams.
• Perform software programming to established standards.
• Coordinate drawings, equipment schedules, as-built drawings, software updates, and operating manuals.
• Order and track materials for projects and support factory-mounting activities.
• Assist with loading and commissioning system-level and network-level controllers.
• Gather field changes and update as-built documentation.
• Keep management and customers informed of progress, risks, and issues.
• Assist with site-specific training and complete required paperwork.
• Adhere to safety standards and practices.
