Job summary

Johnson Controls is a global leader in building systems and energy efficiency, seeking an HVAC Controls Systems Designer to design and program control systems under supervision. You will translate project requirements into hardware, software, submittals, and installation docs while assisting commissioning and warranty support.

Role emphasizes collaboration with field teams, subcontractors, and customers, plus documentation quality and safety adherence.

Qualifications

University degree with experience or 2-year degree with significant experience.
Experience with installing and/or commissioning controls systems, including system-level controllers.
Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
Demonstrated technical aptitude.
Demonstrated advanced computer skills.

Responsibilities

Design HVAC control system hardware and software per standards and project requirements.
Select hardware from design library for diagrams, BOM, networks and schematics.
Prepare detailed submittals and documentation for customers and field teams.
Perform software programming based on standards and project needs.
Coordinate drawings, schedules, as-built drawings, software updates, and manuals.
Order and track materials and support factory-mounting activities to meet schedules.
Assist with loading and commissioning controllers and troubleshoot with subcontractors.
Update as-built documentation and prepare operation materials.
Keep management and customers informed of progress, risks, and issues.
Assist with site-specific training and complete required paperwork.
Adhere to safety standards and respond to warranty calls as needed.
