Cushing Terrell is seeking a Commissioning Intern to support our Commissioning team on real client projects. This in‑person internship will expose you to the full commissioning process from document review to testing HVAC equipment via building automation systems.

You will help create commissioning documentation, assist clients and contractors, and participate in site visits and testing phases to understand automation and building performance systems.

Qualifications

• Completed 3+ years of a mechanical engineering or related undergrad program.
• Basic understanding of HVAC systems and building automation.
• Proficient with Adobe Suite, MS Office, Outlook and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Learn the commissioning process from start to finish using commissioning‑specific software.
• Assist with testing HVAC equipment using building automation systems.
• Review and gain understanding of construction documents.
• Support clients and contractors in closing out high‑performance projects.
• Participate in site visits throughout construction and the testing phase.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on active commissioning projects.
• Gain exposure to the variety of project types and teams across the firm.
