Job summary

USA Mechanical & Energy Service, a long-standing HVAC-R contractor, seeks an Estimator in the Hartford area. You will perform take-offs, read blueprints, and prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC and plumbing projects, collaborating with accounts sales, project managers, and subcontractors.

Ideal candidates bring strong communication, multi-tasking ability, and proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. OSHA 10/30 and an eagerness to contribute to growth are valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with relevant experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom.
• Self-motivated, confident, independent, and organized.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• OSHA 10 or 30 required.

Responsibilities

• Develop proficiency in estimating software and processes.
• Perform take-offs of materials, labor and subcontractors for HVAC and Plumbing projects.
• Read blueprints and specifications.
• Interpret specifications to determine correct materials and equipment.
• Prepare design/build budget estimates and value engineering estimates.
• Prepare estimates for change-orders on projects.
• Solicit and obtain bids from subcontractors and vendors.
• Establish strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors and customers.
• Ensure estimates are completed in a timely manner before bid date deadline.
• Create estimating spreadsheets and detailed proposals.
• Analyze job cost estimating data from reports.
• Negotiate with vendors/subcontractors to gain competitive knowledge.
• Communicate with customers about projects, status, and bids.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
