Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy in Santee, CA seeks an Automation Technician II to inspect, test, adjust and repair electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic automation systems. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform preventative maintenance and support control system installations.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, 4+ years in automation, and familiarity with HVAC control platforms such as Distech, Delta, Alerton, ALC or Tridium.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent field experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, with at least two years as an automation technician.
• Working knowledge of HVAC control systems (Distech, Delta, Alerton, ALC or Tridium).
• Knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Engineering skills include electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and programming.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming or maintenance.
• Good computer skills, understanding of controls networking.
• A valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Tests, inspect and adjust sensors, meters, gauges, and controllers for accuracy.
• Read and identify components on a controls drawing.
• Identify mechanical equipment on drawings (chillers, boilers, pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s).
• Understand basic electrical control circuits including 24VAC power and controller I/O.
• Understand simple controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware.
• Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports for as-built drawings.
• Monitor, identify and diagnose potential problems using computers and on-site observations.
• Interface with installation/maintenance teams to perform installations, repairs or modifications of controlled systems.
• Schedule equipment run times and produce system trend reports.
