Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking an Automation Technician II in California to inspect, test, adjust, and repair automation devices and systems. The role includes diagnosing malfunctions and performing preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure reliable operation.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent, 4+ years of relevant experience (2+ in automation tech), and strong knowledge of HVAC controls systems and electronics. Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, with at least two years as an automation technician.
• Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls system (preferably JCI, Honeywell, or other Niagara-based systems)
• Knowledge of mechanical systems and basic electrical control circuits including 24VAC power and controller I/Os.
• Engineering skills in electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.

Responsibilities

• Tests, inspect and adjust sensors, meters, gauges, and controllers for accuracy.
• Read and identify components on a controls drawing.
• Identify mechanical equipment on drawings (chillers, boilers, pumps, AHU’s, FCU’s, VAV’s).
• Understand basic electrical control circuits including 24VAC power and controller input/outputs.
• Understand simple controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware.
• Implement systems graphics per project scope.
• Replace defective wiring and tubing.
• Record calibrations, parts used, and inventory.
• Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports for as-built drawings.
• Monitor, diagnose potential problems using computers and on-site observations.
• Interface with install/maintenance teams to execute installations or modifications.
• Schedule equipment run times and produce system reports.
