EMCOR Group is seeking an Automation Technician II to support our San Luis Obispo projects. The role will inspect, test, adjust and repair new or existing electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic automation devices and systems, diagnosing malfunctions and performing preventative maintenance to ensure reliable operation of HVAC controls.

Responsibilities include reading controls drawings, identifying equipment on drawings (chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, etc.), understanding

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, with at least two years as an automation technician.
• Working knowledge of at least one HVAC controls system (preferably JCI, Honeywell, or other Niagara-based systems).
• Knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Engineering skills including electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with control system architecture design, programming or maintenance desired.
• Good computer skills, understanding of controls networking.
• A valid driver’s license.

Responsabilités

• Tests, inspect and adjust sensors, meters, gauges, and controllers for accuracy.
• Read and identify components on a controls drawing.
• Identify mechanical equipment on drawings (chillers, boilers, pumps, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, etc.).
• Understand basic electrical control circuits including 24VAC power and controller input/outputs.
• Understand simple controls networking principles.
• Display knowledge of controls hardware.
• Implement system graphics per project scope.
• Replace defective wiring and tubing.
• Record calibrations, parts used, and inventory.
• Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports for as-built drawings.
• Monitor, diagnose potential problems using computers and on-site observations.
• Interface with installation/maintenance teams to execute installations, repairs or modifications.
• Schedule equipment run times and produce system reports.
