Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Field Service Engineering Specialist Professional to perform hands-on testing and commissioning of medium and high voltage protection and control systems.

You will lead testing projects, review design documents, and ensure safety and compliance on diverse sites. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in energy/electrical/power engineering and 5 years of relevant experience with 61850, RTU configurations, and protection schemes.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent in energy, electrical or power engineering or related field.
• 5 years of configuring and testing distance protection, RTU configuration and testing.
• Experience with IEC 61850, 61850 protocols, and protective relays.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on testing and commissioning of medium and high voltage P&C systems.
• Lead testing and commissioning projects of varying complexity (greenfield and brownfield).
• Coordinate with alliances, vendors and SCADA teams involved in MTP control engineering.
• Review design documents and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Establish Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit compliance for projects.
• Visit multiple sites to ensure proper installation and operation and propose improvements.
