Job summary

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Substation Electrical Engineer for our Buffalo, NY office to deliver high voltage substation designs within the Power and Energy Team. You will work under the Supervising Engineer to coordinate multi-discipline design activities and ensure project schedules are met.

The role involves preparing studies, performing design calculations, and developing technical specifications while collaborating with vendors and project managers. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3-5 years of high-voltage substation design experience.
• P.E. licensure eligible.
• Exceptional communication skills for client relations and project teams.
• Pre-employment drug screening and criminal background investigation.
• Position located at client offices with occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Deliver design activities in accordance with applicable codes and WSP policies.
• Work under mentorship of the Supervising Engineer.
• Prepare substation plan, grounding, protection, lighting, and conduit layouts.
• Create studies and design calculations (load flow, short circuit, Arc Flash, grounding).
• Produce and review technical specifications and vendor drawings.
