Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Substation Electrical Engineer for our Buffalo, NY office to deliver high voltage substation designs within the Power and Energy Team. You will work under supervision on multi-discipline projects, contributing to plans, studies, and drawings while meeting schedules and client expectations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with 3–5 years of HV design experience, and eligibility for PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of high-voltage substation design experience.
• P.E. licensure eligibility.
• Experience with consulting firms preferred.
• Strong communication and client-relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high voltage substation designs per codes and standards.
• Prepare plans, layouts, grounding, lightning protection, and drawings.
• Perform studies: load flow, short circuit, Arc Flash, transformer sizing.
• Coordinate with multi-discipline team and project managers.
• Support estimators with cost proposals.
• Support site inspections and construction phase activities.
• Produce technical specifications and review vendor drawings.
• Ensure safety and quality controls.
