Job summary

Amazon seeks a Battery Pack Mechanical Hardware Development Engineer II to lead high-voltage pack design, packaging, and validation for our EPS team in Seattle. You will create CATIA models and GD&T drawings, develop thermal management and safe enclosures, and collaborate across electrical, safety, and manufacturing to meet strict standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years of mechanical engineering experience; concept-to-production exposure.
• Experience with mechanical design of battery packs, cell-to-pack architecture, enclosures, and structural supports.
• CAD proficiency in CATIA/SolidWorks/Creo/NX for 3D modeling and drawings.
• Familiarity with high-voltage safety, creepage/clearance, isolation, and insulation coordination.
• Knowledge of DFMEA/design-for-safety and PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical architecture for high-voltage Li-Ion battery packs including modules and enclosures.
• Create 3D models and drawings using CATIA with GD&T.
• Develop pack packaging balancing energy density, safety, and manufacturability.
• Design and integrate thermal management and IP-rated enclosures.
• Perform FEA (structural, thermal, vibration) and validation testing.
• Coordinate with electrical, BMS, systems, and manufacturing on interfaces and DFM/DFA.
• Support design reviews, documentation, and changes through PLM.
• Contribute to cost, weight, safety, and manufacturability improvements.
