The Human Services Practitioner position is employed by USF AHEC Tobacco Cessation Program to provide support for cessation services and interventions with individuals and groups addicted to tobacco or health care workers who treat tobacco-dependent patients. Work assignments require applying professional training and experience to assist with appropriate tobacco interventions for clients and to carry out other related tasks such as tobacco cessation screenings, interventions, and training. The Human Services Practitioner will interact with adult clients, the elderly, and institutional staff. Interventions may include distributing nicotine replacement products via mail, pre-registering/screening tobacco-dependent clients into cessation programs, and preparing materials for groups. This position requires a qualified human services professional who will provide direct assistance to clients or serve as a case manager to coordinate service delivery. Under the oversight of the Program Director or Assistant Director, additional administrative duties may be assigned to meet grant requirements.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields. Bachelor’s degree candidates require at least two years of applicable experience; a Master’s degree may substitute for this experience. Certain certifications or licensures may be required or preferred. The position complies with SB 1310, which allows substitution of work experience for educational requirements under specified conditions. Related work experience cannot replace licensure, certification, or registration requirements. Minimum qualifications requiring a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
