Organizational Summary

AHEC is a department within Morsani College of Medicine, reporting to the VP of Research. It has a $2.7M budget and provides cessation services, training, and systems change initiatives across a nine-county area. USF AHEC is part of the Florida AHEC Network.

Position Summary

The Human Services Practitioner supports tobacco cessation services, working with individuals and groups, including tobacco-dependent clients and healthcare workers. Responsibilities include facilitating cessation groups, distributing nicotine replacement therapy, maintaining reports, promoting services, and coordinating with community partners. Certification as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist is required, along with ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate in-person and virtual tobacco cessation groups.
• Distribute OTC Nicotine Replacement Therapy products.
• Maintain and submit accurate reports using TFFACT system.
• Promote services at community events and increase partnerships.
• Complete and maintain certification as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist.
• Coordinate systems change strategies and provide evidence-based guidelines to providers.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree with at least two years of applicable experience or a Master's degree. Specific certifications or licensures may be required. Experience in education, psychology, social work, or related fields is preferred.
