Job summary

Konnect Resources, LLC is seeking an HR Manager to oversee day-to-day HR operations, including payroll, onboarding, benefits, and compliance, across a multi-state workforce in Gardena, CA.

The role requires hands-on payroll processing from start to finish, strong HR knowledge, and the ability to partner with leadership to maintain a positive workplace environment. Hybrid schedule with initial on-site, then ongoing on-site 2 days per week.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including payroll and benefits.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification required.
  • Fluent in Japanese (spoken and written).
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Job description

Location: Gardena, CA | Hybrid (On-site for the first 3 months, then transitioning to a hybrid schedule with 2 days per week on-site)

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Compensation: $100,000 – $115,000 starting salary, plus a non-discretionary bonus

Job Summary:

The HR Manager supports day-to-day human resources operations across a variety of core HR functions, including talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, payroll processing, employee support, training administration, and compliance activities. Working closely with employees, managers, leadership, and external partners, this role helps ensure HR processes are accurate, timely, compliant, and aligned with overall business needs while contributing to a positive and professional workplace environment. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded HR professional with hands-on, end-to-end payroll processing experience and the ability to confidently manage the payroll process from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support the full-cycle talent acquisition process, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, offer support, and pre-employment processes.
  • Coordinate and support onboarding activities to facilitate a smooth and successful transition for new employees into the organization.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, employee questions, vendor coordination, and related reporting.
  • Manage and track employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, disability, workers’ compensation-related leaves, personal leaves, and other applicable leave programs.
  • Support the semi-monthly payroll process by reviewing payroll-related data, coordinating with third-party payroll providers, and ensuring timely transmission of files to and from vendors.
  • Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, payroll, onboarding, leaves of absence, and general employment matters.
  • Support HR compliance activities, including required reporting, employee notices, personnel file maintenance, policy updates, and HR documentation.
  • Administer and monitor required employee training through web-based learning systems, including compliance-related training.
  • Support performance management, employee training and development, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Maintain accurate HRIS, payroll, benefits, and employee data and records.
  • Partner with managers to support staffing needs, employee communications, policy interpretation, and HR best practices.
  • Assist with HR audits, projects, process improvements, and system updates.
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive employee information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Perform additional HR, compliance, and business-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
  • Must be fluent in Japanese (spoken and written).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably with supervisory, lead, or HR generalist responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment compliance, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and employee relations.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Practical problem-solving ability with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with employees, managers, vendors, and leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, and HR systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality while working effectively with a diverse employee population.
  • Ability to perform standard office duties, including working at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support company locations, meetings, audits, or employee-related matters.
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll from start to finish
  • Hands-on experience processing multi-state payroll
  • Direct payroll processing experience is required; experience limited to managing or overseeing payroll functions does not meet this requirement
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance
Preferred
  • Experience with ADP, online benefits platforms, applicant tracking systems, web-based learning management systems, and HR technology preferred.
