Job summary

LHH in Long Beach, CA is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead Human Resources operations onsite. The role requires a hands-on HR leader who can support management and employees while ensuring compliance and strengthening employee relations in a union environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of California employment laws and the ability to partner with operational leaders to support business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience.
  • Previous HR leadership or HR Manager experience.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Strong employee relations and workplace investigations experience.
  • Knowledge of California employment laws, labor relations, and HR compliance.
  • Experience supporting performance management, corrective actions, and employee coaching.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day Human Resources operations, including employee relations, performance management, compliance, onboarding, and policy administration.
  • Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and leadership teams.
  • Partner with union representatives and management on labor relations matters, grievance administration, contract interpretation, and employee concerns.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and provide recommendations on employee relations issues.
  • Advise managers on performance management, corrective actions, coaching, and employee development.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and labor regulations.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, employee engagement, retention, and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Oversee leave of absence administration, accommodations, and return-to-work processes.
  • Partner with Payroll and Benefits teams to support employee programs and HR operations.
  • Maintain HR metrics, reporting, and employee records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

Job description

This is a fully onsite role requiring a hands-on HR leader who can effectively support both management and employees while ensuring compliance, strengthening employee relations, and driving HR best practices.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or industrial environments.
  • HRIS and payroll system experience.
