About the Role:
The Manager of People & Culture will serve as the primary HR point of contact for employees and managers while helping optimize and scale HR operations. This role combines hands‑on HR execution with opportunities to improve systems, streamline processes, and leverage technology to drive efficiency across the employee lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is operationally minded and energized by working in a fast‑paced environment where they can build, improve, and influence.
Key Responsibilities & Outcomes:
- Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee recruiting logistics in coordination with managers; support new hire onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes to ensure a positive employee experience.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs; address general inquiries and assist with conflict resolution, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Compliance & Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee files and HR records in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and company policies; assist with ongoing compliance initiatives.
- Performance Management & Development: Support the performance review process and assist managers with coaching and development plans to ensure a high‑performing, engaged workforce.
- Policy Implementation: Help develop, communicate, and enforce HR-related policies, procedures, and best practices that foster a respectful, inclusive, and productive workplace.
- Payroll Processing: Partner with CEO to manage payroll processing for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Time & Attendance Management: Oversee timekeeping systems; verify and reconcile time records to ensure proper calculation of wages and overtime.
- Benefit Administration: Assist with annual benefits enrollment, reconcile monthly benefit invoices, and address employee questions regarding health, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefit programs.
- Leave Tracking: Support administration of leave programs (FMLA, state‑specific leaves, vacation) and maintain accurate compensation records.
- Compensation Analysis and FLSA Compliance: Assess and evaluate total compensation for all employees to ensure competitiveness in the marketplace, proper FLSA status for each role, etc.
- HR Metrics: Develop reports and dashboards that provide actionable workforce insights. Support leadership reporting through accurate HR metrics and analysis; use data to identify trends and inform strategic decision‑making.
- Culture Champion: As the company grows, preserve and enhance the incredible culture that has been built; create moments that matter, from shared meals and team experiences to meaningful recognition and connection. Develop formal rewards and recognition program to celebrate employee milestones.
- People Leadership/Training & Development: Lead, coach and supervise daily activities for two employees; provide manager training to people leaders, sensitivity/harassment training for employees, etc.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, with experience leading people
- Experience supporting a high-growth, scaling, or fast-paced organization
- Proven success improving HR processes, systems, and operational workflows
- Hands‑on experience with payroll administration and a major HRIS platform
- Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws and Washington State HR compliance requirements
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
- Experience creating HR dashboards, workforce reporting, and analytics

Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $ 110,000 - $130,000 annual base depending on experience; includes health insurance, holidays, and PTO. Bonus incentive eligible.
