Job summary

Kiewit Luminarium in Omaha seeks an experienced Human Resources Manager who will lead the employee lifecycle, policy development, and engagement initiatives onsite. This role requires partnering with leadership to guide employee relations and performance processes while owning HR programs from strategy to execution.

This hands-on, onsite position offers autonomy, a broad scope across benefits, compensation, recruitment, and compliance, and a meaningful impact on people and culture.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree with 5+ years of progressive human resources experience.
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP/PHR) preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulations, policy, HRIS technology, and employment practices.
  • English proficiency required; additional languages a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead workplace policies to attract, grow, and retain talent across full-time, part-time, and volunteers.
  • Administer employee benefits programs from enrollment to open enrollment and questions.
  • Partner with brokers, carriers, and HR vendors for plans, renewals, and audits.
  • Ensure HR compliance by monitoring legal changes and maintaining records.
  • Manage employee relations, conduct investigations, and safeguard confidentiality.
  • Oversee compensation records, benchmarking, reviews, and internal equity.
  • Administer performance review program for effectiveness and equity.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
  • Oversee recruitment, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Collaborate with Finance on payroll and benefits changes.
  • Be data-driven about engagement and performance; educate others.

Position Summary

Reporting to the CEO, the Human Resources Manager will work closely with leadership, providing guidance on employee engagement and employee relations matters. This role will manage the employee lifecycle from new-hire paperwork and benefit enrollment through termination, exit interviews and offboarding coordination. The Human Resources Manager is responsible for workplace policy and practices that will attract, grow, retain, and graduate Kiewit Luminarium talent.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional who thrives as an HR team of one. In this highly hands-on onsite role, you’ll wear many hats, take full ownership of the organization’s HR function, and lead the employee experience from strategy through execution. Essential Functions
  • Lead mission-aligned, people-centered workplace policies and practices to attract, grow, and retain talented individuals as well as diverse teams that may include full time employees, part-time employees, and volunteers
  • Administer a suite of competitive employee benefit programs through new hire enrollment, qualifying life events, open enrollment, and employee benefit questions.
  • Partner with brokers, carriers, and HR vendors, to manage plans, renewals, and benefit compliance and audits.
  • Ensure HR-related compliance by staying abreast of legal changes, monitoring areas of potential liability, maintaining excellent records, and fulfilling employer requirements.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including complaints, conflicts, performance concerns, and workplace investigations while maintaining confidentiality and consistent practices.
  • Manage compensation records and processes, support salary benchmarking and compensation reviews, and provide recommendations related to pay, promotions, and internal equity.
  • Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture.
  • Manage recruitment, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Partner with the Finance team on payroll and benefit changes each pay period.
  • Be goal-oriented and data-driven with regard to employee engagement, performance, and outcomes; learn from and educate others based on results, feedback and evaluation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience Required
  • BA/BS degree with 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, including advising senior leaders.
  • HR certification (SHRM-CP/PHR) preferred.
  • Knowledge of regulations, policy, HRIS technology, and employment practices.
  • English proficiency required; additional languages a plus.

  • General office environment. Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing or walking for up to 10% of the time. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

Compensation
  • Competitive pay commensurate with experience, starting at $70,000+ annual salary.
