Job description

Weelborg Auto is seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to support a people-first workplace from its New Ulm, MN onsite location. In this role, you will develop, implement, and administer core HR programs, with ownership across payroll and benefits, recruitment and onboarding, compensation, performance management, employee relations, and employment compliance.

Working closely with leadership, you will also manage payroll processing systems and reporting, support audits with accurate documentation, and help ensure processes align with federal and state requirements. The position includes oversight of HR records, HRIS data, learning and development reporting, and HR metrics used by leadership to monitor trends and take corrective action.

What you'll do
  • Oversee the benefits and payroll specialist, including implementing, maintaining, and reviewing payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions (salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions).
  • Ensure accurate payroll updates for new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates; support timely processing of payroll updates.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions, including payroll transaction reporting for internal use.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices; support audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities, including identifying recruitment sources, job postings, candidate evaluation and interviews, and referral of qualified candidates for further evaluation. Extend offers, arrange background checks, and conduct new hire orientation.
  • Support workers' compensation and OSHA compliance programs, including monitoring employee progress through the workers' compensation carrier and assisting with OSHA Logs and annual OSHA summary postings.
  • Ensure legal compliance across applicable human resource areas including Title VII, IRCA, ADA, FLSA, HIPAA, and OSHA, including monitoring processes, posting required notices, maintaining records, and investigating and resolving employee complaints.
  • Manage human resources related records with separate file systems (personnel records, employment selection process records, I-9 forms/IRCA, equal employment records, OSHA/workers compensation records, complaint investigation records, and employee performance issue records), maintaining confidentiality and limited access per procedure.
  • Manage HR functions including timecard processing, answering HR questions, benefits enrollment, new hire entry and processing, changes and termination information, background checks, performance reviews, forms, policy updates, and conducting stay and exit interviews.
  • Manage learning and development activities by running reports, assigning training, and ensuring course completion for assigned training.
  • Collaborate with management on employee relations strategies, conduct investigations into employee complaints, recommend appropriate actions, and address employee concerns in a timely manner.
  • Create weekly and monthly KPI statistical reports for leadership review; analyze monthly HR metrics, identify unfavorable trends, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate employee information in the HRIS system.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, professional publications, research, networking, and participation in professional societies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred, with emphasis in human resources, business management, or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years human resources management experience.
  • 3 to 5 years payroll processing experience.
  • Knowledge of human resources systems (HRIS) preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Knowledge of HR policies and practices including recruitment, selection, compensation, job description, non-discrimination, safety-security, promotion, discipline, performance management, and termination.
