We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join our team and play a key leadership role in supporting our attorneys and professional staff.
This is a hands-on leadership position for an HR professional who enjoys balancing people leadership, employee relations, recruiting, performance management and employee engagement. The HR Manager will supervise members of the HR and administrative support teams, partner closely with attorneys and firm leadership, and help ensure our HR programs and practices support a high-performing, professional and engaging workplace.
What You\'ll Do
- Leadership: Supervise the HR team, Receptionist, Executive Legal Secretaries and Word Processing, providing coaching, mentorship and ongoing performance feedback.
- Staff recruiting: Manage full-cycle recruitment for legal staff positions, partnering with hiring managers on position requirements, candidate selection, interviews and offers.
- Onboarding: Oversee new-hire onboarding and orientation to ensure employees feel welcomed, prepared and connected from day one.
- Employee relations: Partner with the Director of Human Resources on employee relations matters, applying Firm policies fairly, consistently and with appropriate discretion.
- HR Advisory: Provide practical guidance to attorneys, managers and staff on workplace and HR matters.
- Performance Management: Oversee and continuously improve the annual performance review process for attorneys and staff, ensuring timely completion and consistent application of standards.
- Engagement and culture: Lead Firm events, recognition programs and other initiatives designed to build connection, engagement, morale and retention.
- HR operations: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen the employee experience and maintain effective HR procedures and documentation.
- Manage event budgets: Develop and monitor budgets for Firm events, balancing employee experience with responsible cost management.
- Collaboration: Work with Marketing, Accounting and other departments on Firm initiatives, surveys and special projects.
- DEI initiatives: Assist the Firm\'s DEI Committee with Firmwide programs and initiatives.
- Compliance: Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment laws and HR best practices.
What We\'re Looking For
- Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of HR management experience, law firm experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and developing employees.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Sound judgment and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
